Fine Metals

FINE METALS

Gold, Platinum, and Palladium

While fine metals are durable and resistant to tarnishing, they may attract some buildup from cosmetics, hand washing and sanitizing.

Clean away any dirt and debris by soaking the pieces in warm water with mild dish soap and gently scrub them with a soft toothbrush.

If the metal has lost its lustre you can use a polishing cloth, or bring it to us for a professional clean + polish.

Stones

GEMSTONES

Diamonds, Sapphire, and Rubies

These precious stones are durable and beautiful but the settings do like to trap debris, body oils and cosmetics.

Some rubies have treatments that make them unsuitable for strong detergents and harsh cleaning methods like ultrasonic cleaners. At home these gems can be cleaned using a soft brush with a mild dish soap.

Opals

Avoid soaking or wetting opals as much as possible.

Their softness and high water content make them prone to scratching, chipping and breaking and they can even be damaged by changes in temperature and humidity.

Wear opals gently and occasionally to keep their lustre as long as possible. Clean gently with a soft brush, mild dish soap and lukewarm water.

Emeralds

Most emeralds are oil-treated to fill internal fractures and bring out the best in each stone.

Take extra care to avoid contact with hot water, solvents and petroleum distillates that may remove the treatment and show internal fractures.

Clean gently using a soft brush with a mild dish soap and lukewarm water.

GEMS

Pearls

Pearls benefit from being worn and absorbing the natural oils on your skin. While they benefit from moisture, they should not be submerged in water. When cleaning, gently wipe with a soft cloth before putting them away. They can also be scratched due to their soft surface and should therefore be stored separately from other jewelry.

Cleaning & Storing.

Fine jewelry can be gently washed with warm water and mild soap. Make sure to rinse well. Dry completely with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid chlorine and cleaning agents. While it won’t tarnish, it can minimize its shine.

Some of Our fine pieces are delicate and must be stored properly to avoid tangles, bends or breaks. We suggest storing your pieces in individual pouches, separate from one another, clasped, laid flat or hung.
